Methodology for Developing Real-Time Mobile Phone Adaptive Interventions

Cube proposed by: Susan A. Murphy

Unit: LSA: Natural Sciences

About this project:
This cube is focused on jump-starting the nascent area of individualized, real-time adaptive interventions. These adaptive interventions use real-time data to continually adapt, in real-time, the intervention to each person’s specific and changing needs. We propose to conduct preliminary studies for two grant applications concerning methodology and algorithms necessary for developing high quality individualized, adaptive interventions using mobile phones. This work will be relevant across a variety of behavior change settings including recovery from substance abuse, self-management of chronic pain, treatment of adolescent diabetes, and facilitating effective use the environment to promote physical activity and mobility in later life
