Short bio: 

Steven Abney completed his doctorate at MIT in 1987. He was a Member of Technical Staff at Bellcore, an assistant professor at the University of TĂ¼bingen, Germany, a Principal Technical Staff Member at AT&T Laboratories, before coming to the University of Michigan in 2002.
