This project will collect new survey data regarding mental health and college experiences, with a focus on students of color and students from immigrant families. The data collection will leverage the existing infrastructure of the Healthy Minds Study, an ongoing national survey study of student mental health. The project would allow for several new schools to join the study without the usual fee that is required. We would recruit new schools with large populations of students of color and/or large populations of students from immigrant families. Our main goal is to obtain a detailed picture of how students of color from various backgrounds are faring in terms of mental health (depression, anxiety, and other common issues), and how mental health relates to factors such as sense of belonging and experiences of discrimination in campus communities. These topics are more important than ever to address in today's tumultuous political and social climate.
