Visioning Lost and Unproduced Films
A large proportion of the feature films made in the United States are now considered "lost." An even greater number of feature films were started, but discontinued at various stages of their production for various reasons. Although lost films no longer exist, and unproduced films never existed to begin with, in most cases, traces of these phantom films have survived. By combining archival research, writing, poetry, and digital multimedia, this collaboration explores new ways for visualizing and making heard some of the surviving traces left by selected lost and unproduced films.
