Dr. George received his BSE in Engineering Physics at the University of Michigan before obtaining his MD from the University of California San Francisco School of Medicine. He completed his Trauma/Critical Care fellowship at the University of Washington’s Harborview Medical Center prior to joining the faculty at the University of Michigan.
Dr. George studies how to improve the quality of the physician workforce through performance measurement, educational innovation, and policy. Dr. George is also the co-founder of a multi-institutional research consortium (Procedural Learning and Safety Collaborative) which is leading a national initiative in healthcare education quality improvement. He has co-edited a textbook for medical students, teaches nationally on topics related to surgical education, and has won numerous local and national teaching awards.
