Rick Neitzel is an occupational hygienist interested in quantitative and subjective exposure assessment in occupational and non-occupational settings and development and evaluation of effective occupational and community health interventions and controls. He is also interested in incorporating new methodologies and technologies into risk assessment efforts. Prior to his appointment to the faculty of the University of Michigan Department of Environmental Health Sciences, he worked as a Research Scientist in the University of Washington Department of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences from 1998-2011. He has been a Certified Industrial Hygienist since 2003
My research focuses on the characterization of exposures to a range of hazards, as well as evaluation of a range of associated adverse health effects. We work in occupational and community settings both domestically and abroad, and are interested in incorporating new methodologies and exposure sensing technologies into research. I also have a strong interest in translating research findings into occupational and public health practice.
